THE TOUR
Enzso was an orchestral project that brought together two iconic musical entities: the New Zealand band Split Enz and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO). The project was conceived by Split Enz member Eddie Rayner and conductor Peter Scholes. Enzso aimed to reinterpret and perform the music of Split Enz with the grandeur and depth of a full symphony orchestra.
The Enzso project embarked on a highly successful tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1997. The tour included a series of concerts in major cities, captivating audiences with unique arrangements of Split Enz's popular songs. The fusion of rock and pop music with the rich sound of a symphony orchestra created a mesmerizing and powerful experience for concertgoers.
The arrangements for Enzso were created by Eddie Rayner, who took the original compositions of Split Enz and reimagined them for orchestral accompaniment. The project featured many of Split Enz's greatest hits, including "I Got You," "Message to My Girl," "History Never Repeats," and "Six Months in a Leaky Boat." The orchestral arrangements added new layers of depth and complexity to the familiar tunes, highlighting the symphonic elements within the songs.
Enzso's performances were a celebration of the musical legacy of Split Enz, showcasing the band's distinctive sound while introducing a fresh interpretation through the collaboration with the NZSO. The concerts were highly acclaimed by both fans and critics, attracting large audiences and generating positive reviews.
