THE TOUR
The U2 Vertigo Tour in 2006 was a continuation of their 2005 Vertigo Tour, which was in support of their 2004 album "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb." The tour was notable for its high-energy performances and the band's use of a unique stage design. The Vertigo Tour in 2005 had been a massive success, both critically and commercially, and the 2006 leg continued this momentum.

Key aspects of the Vertigo 2006 tour included:

  1. Tour Dates and Locations: The 2006 leg of the tour primarily focused on Latin America and Oceania, expanding U2's global reach. They performed in countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile, New Zealand, and Australia.

  2. Setlist: The setlist often featured a mix of songs from "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," along with classics from their extensive catalogue. Hits like "Vertigo," "Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own," and "City of Blinding Lights" were regularly played.

  3. Stage Design and Production: The stage setup was innovative, with a circular central stage often referred to as the "B-stage," allowing for a 360-degree audience view. This design enhanced the intimacy and interaction with the audience.

  4. Critical and Commercial Success: The tour was well-received, with praise for the band's performance and the production quality. It also did well commercially, adding to the overall success of the Vertigo Tour as a whole.

  5. Live Recordings and Broadcasts: Several concerts from the 2006 leg were recorded and broadcasted. This provided a wider audience the chance to experience the tour.

  6. Social and Political Messages: True to U2's form, the tour often incorporated social and political themes, with Bono using the platform to address issues ranging from poverty to global politics.

  7. Band Members: The tour featured the band's classic lineup - Bono (vocals), The Edge (guitar, keyboards, and vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion).

The Vertigo 2006 tour is remembered as a significant part of U2's touring history, showcasing their ability to connect with global audiences while continually evolving their live performances.
