THE TOUR
Pink Floyd's 1987/88 world tour was in support of their 13th studio album, "A Momentary Lapse of Reason," which was released in September 1987. This tour marked a significant period in the band's history as it was their first tour without their co-founder and primary songwriter, Roger Waters, who had left the band in 1985. The remaining members of Pink Floyd, including David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright, decided to continue making music and performing as Pink Floyd.
The tour was launched in support of the album of the same name. It was the band's first album without Roger Waters and featured David Gilmour as the primary songwriter and vocalist. The touring lineup included David Gilmour (guitar, vocals), Nick Mason (drums), and Richard Wright (keyboards). Several additional musicians were hired to fill out the sound, including Jon Carin, Scott Page, and Guy Pratt.
The tour featured a massive and visually stunning stage setup, including a circular video screen, lasers, and an impressive lighting rig. The production was known for its innovative use of technology and special effects.
The band performed a mix of classic Pink Floyd songs and tracks from "A Momentary Lapse of Reason." Some of the classic songs included "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Comfortably Numb," and "Wish You Were Here."
The tour was a commercial success, drawing large crowds and earning positive reviews. Despite the absence of Roger Waters, the band was able to maintain its status as one of the world's premier rock acts.
