THE TOUR
The Buena Vista Social Club was a legendary Cuban music group formed in the 1990s, featuring a group of veteran Cuban musicians, many of whom were in their 70s and 80s. The group was named after a members-only club in Havana that was popular in the 1940s and 1950s. The project was organized by Cuban musician Juan de Marcos González and American guitarist Ry Cooder, who wanted to showcase the traditional Cuban music styles like son, bolero, and danzón to the world.

In 1997, they released an acclaimed self-titled album, "Buena Vista Social Club," which was recorded in Havana and became a worldwide sensation. The album won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album and contributed significantly to the resurgence of interest in traditional Cuban music.

Following the success of the album, the Buena Vista Social Club embarked on several international tours, spreading the rich sounds of Cuban music to audiences across the globe. One notable tour took place in 2001 when the Buena Vista Social Club visited Australia.

The tour of Australia in 2001 was highly anticipated, as it was an opportunity for Australian audiences to experience the magic of the Buena Vista Social Club live on stage. The group performed in various cities, captivating audiences with their vibrant performances and showcasing their remarkable talents. The tour was met with widespread acclaim, and tickets for their concerts sold out quickly.

The Buena Vista Social Club's performances in Australia not only entertained music enthusiasts but also provided a unique cultural experience, connecting people through the universal language of music. The tour further solidified the group's legacy as one of the most influential and iconic Cuban music ensembles of all time.
