THE TOUR
Thin Lizzy was an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1969. The band achieved international acclaim and recognition for their unique blend of hard rock, twin-guitar harmonies, and lyrics often dealing with themes of romance, mythology, and Irish history. Thin Lizzy is best known for their charismatic frontman and bassist, Phil Lynott, who was the driving force behind the band.

The band lineup for the 1980 World Tour was:

  1. Phil Lynott - Vocals and Bass Guitar: Phil Lynott was the charismatic frontman and the driving creative force behind Thin Lizzy. He was known for his distinctive singing style and skillful bass playing. He was also the band's primary songwriter.

  2. Scott Gorham - Lead Guitar: Scott Gorham was one of the band's primary guitarists and was known for his harmonious twin-lead guitar work with other members of the band. He played a significant role in shaping the band's sound during this period.

  3. Snowy White - Guitar: Snowy White joined Thin Lizzy as the second guitarist in 1980. He added his own style to the band's guitar harmonies and played a crucial role in their sound during this era.

  4. Brian Downey - Drums: Brian Downey was the band's original and longtime drummer, providing a solid and dynamic rhythm section. He continued to be an essential part of Thin Lizzy during the 1980 lineup.

Thin Lizzy's music often incorporated elements of Celtic and Irish folk music, creating a distinctive sound that set them apart from other hard rock bands of the time. They were known for their anthemic songs, such as "The Boys Are Back in Town," "Whiskey in the Jar," "Jailbreak," and "Emerald."

Some of their most celebrated albums include "Jailbreak" (1976), which included the hit single "The Boys Are Back in Town," and "Black Rose: A Rock Legend" (1979), which featured Gary Moore on guitar. These albums, among others, solidified their reputation in the rock world.

Tragically, Phil Lynott's struggles with substance abuse and health issues took a toll on his life, and he passed away in 1986. Following his death, Thin Lizzy went through various lineup changes and even reformed for tours with different lead vocalists, including John Sykes and Ricky Warwick.

Thin Lizzy's legacy endures, with their music continuing to influence rock and metal bands. They are remembered for their energetic live performances, powerful melodies, and Phil Lynott's distinctive presence as a rock icon.
