Record Store Day (RSD) is an annual celebration that honours the unique culture of independently owned record stores. Since its inception in 2007, RSD has become a global phenomenon, bringing together music enthusiasts, collectors, and artists to appreciate the art of music and the charm of vinyl records.
When is Record Store Day 2025?
In 2025, Record Store Day will take place on Saturday, April 12th. This year marks a significant shift from the traditional third Saturday of April, as the date has been moved up to avoid coinciding with a bank holiday in many countries. This will be Rockaway Records 18th year hosting this event.
Exclusive Releases to Look Out For
One of the most anticipated aspects of RSD is the exclusive releases offered by artists and labels. This year, Post Malone, the 2025 Record Store Day ambassador, is releasing a special vinyl edition of his Nirvana tribute album. Originally performed live in 2020, this 14-track record features covers of iconic songs like "Come as You Are" and "Heart-Shaped Box," with contributions from Travis Barker on drums. Proceeds from this release will benefit MusiCares' Addiction Recovery/Mental Health division.

- David Bowie's "Changes" was reissued as a limited edition picture disc for RSD 2015, becoming one of the fastest-selling RSD releases ever.
- In 2013, The White Stripes released a rare 7-inch vinyl of "Elephant" on coloured vinyl, which became highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
