What is Record Store Day?

Record Store Day (RSD) is an annual celebration of independent record stores and the culture surrounding vinyl music. Launched in 2007, RSD has grown into a global event, bringing music lovers together to support their local record stores and enjoy exclusive, limited-edition vinyl releases.

Post Malone: The 2025 Record Store Day Ambassador

Each year, an artist is chosen to represent Record Store Day, and in 2025, that honor goes to Post Malone. Known for his genre-blending music and deep appreciation for vinyl, Post Malone has expressed his excitement about being this year’s ambassador, stating:

“What an honor, I can’t believe I was chosen to be Record Store Day’s Ambassador for 2025. Record Store Day is so important, and I really hope to do my part to keep it alive.”

Memorable Record Store Day Releases

Over the years, RSD has featured some incredible exclusive vinyl releases. Here are a few highlights from past years:

David Bowie – “Cracked Actor” (2017): A rare live album from 1974, pressed on triple vinyl.
Prince – “The Versace Experience” (2019): Originally a cassette-only release, this became a must-have for Prince collectors.
Pink Floyd – “Interstellar Overdrive” (2017): A 12-minute, previously unreleased version of their psychedelic classic.
Fleetwood Mac – “The Alternate Rumours” (2020): A fresh take on the iconic album with alternate versions of its famous tracks.

Here at Rockaway Records in Westfield Carindale, Brisbane, we are gearing up for an exciting Record Store Day on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Doors open at 8 AM, but eager collectors can start lining up from 5:30 AM to get first dibs on this year’s exclusive releases.

To ensure fairness, our team will be on hand to assist customers in reserving their sought-after RSD titles upon arrival. We encourage everyone to arrive early, as RSD exclusives tend to sell out quickly!
