DESCRIPTION
Vintage original official concert merchandise from the actual gig in 1971 - over 52 years ago.

This is a stunning piece of history featuring great black & white photos of all the performers. Although it's in excellent condition considering its age, the program does have a bend in the middle and there is some slight age discolouration.

Comes with Rockaway Records Certificate of Authenticity.

Actual images of item have been used and form part of the item condition/description.

THE TOUR
Crystal Palace Park was a historic park in South London, known for its iconic Crystal Palace structure, which had been destroyed by fire in 1936. The park's natural amphitheater, known as the Crystal Palace Bowl, served as the venue for this Garden Party on Saturday, 31st July 1971. This was the second Garden Party held at this famous venue.

The event was headlined by Elton John with Dee Murray on bass and Nigel Olsson on drums.

Also on the bill was Yes, an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1968. Blues guitar prodigy Rory Gallagher and folk favourites Fairport Convention played, as did Hookfoot (a British rock band, active from 1969 to 1974) and Tír na nÓg, an Irish folk duo formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1969 by Leo O'Kelly and Sonny Condell.

Not a bad lineup for the admission price of £1.25 (plus 15p for the programme)!

Pete Drummond was the compere.

COLLECTABILITY
Tour programs are highly collectable and sought after for several reasons. Firstly, they provide a tangible memento of a specific concert or event, allowing fans to relive the experience and cherish the memories associated with it. Tour programs often feature exclusive content like behind-the-scenes photos, interviews, and detailed information about the artists and their performances. Additionally, they serve as a snapshot of a particular era in an artist's career, making them valuable to both music enthusiasts and historians.  Whether you're a dedicated fan or a passionate collector, owning these programs offers a tangible connection to the music world and serves as a treasured piece of memorabilia.

Programs can also be framed together with other items we have on our website such as vinyl records, official stage guitar picks, autographs, backstage passes, concert tickets, drumsticks and photos and you can create a truly one-of-a-kind unique piece of memorabilia.
