In previous installments of the Terminator franchise, T-800s have been portrayed primarily as antagonists, including the iconic role played by Schwarzenegger himself in the original "Terminator" films.
However, in "Terminator: Dark Fate," the T-800 is depicted in a different light. After the events of "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," this particular T-800 model adopts a human name, Carl, and begins to develop a conscience. He chooses to live among humans and eventually starts a family, living a peaceful and mundane life. This version of the T-800 has become domesticated and even shows signs of remorse for his past actions.
Despite his efforts to assimilate into human society, Carl is forced to confront his past when a new Terminator, the Rev-9, arrives from the future to kill Dani Ramos, a young woman with a significant role in the future resistance against machines. Carl teams up with Sarah Connor, another familiar character from the franchise, and Dani to protect her from the Rev-9.
Throughout the film, Carl serves as an unexpected ally, offering his expertise and combat skills to help defeat the Rev-9.
