THE TOUR
Simple Minds is a Scottish rock band that has enjoyed a long and successful career spanning several decades. To support the release of their 8th studio album "Street Fighting Years," Simple Minds embarked on a concert tour in 1989 which took them to various cities and countries across Europe and Australia.

The album, which was released in May 1989 marked a departure from their previous albums, featuring a more politically and socially conscious lyrical theme. It included notable tracks like "Mandela Day," "Belfast Child," and "Biko," which addressed various political and social issues of the time. "Belfast Child" became one of their biggest hits and was a poignant song about the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

It was a significant tour for the band, as it showcased their new direction with the politically charged album.

The band's live performances during this tour were known for their energy and the powerful delivery of songs from "Street Fighting Years" and other albums.

The tour helped solidify Simple Minds' reputation as a prominent live act during that era.

Overall, the "Street Fighting Years" concert tour was a pivotal moment in Simple Minds' career, allowing them to reach a broader audience and receive critical acclaim for their new musical direction and socially conscious lyrics. It remains a notable chapter in the band's history.
