Originally released in 1970, Ode To John Law is the powerful second album by Scottish blues-rock legends Stone The Crows. Led by the magnetic vocals of Maggie Bell (often hailed as the “British Janis Joplin”) and the fiery guitar work of Leslie Harvey, this record perfectly captures the raw, soulful energy that made the band one of the most respected acts of the early ’70s rock scene. The album moves effortlessly between storming blues (“Danger Zone,” “Things Are Getting Better”), psychedelic flourishes (“Sad Mary”), and heartfelt balladry (“Friend,” “Love”) — all delivered with passion and musical intensity. This 1996 Repertoire Records reissue features superb remastered sound and includes the rare single version of “Things Are Getting Better” as a bonus track.
