Vintage original official concert merchandise from the actual Festival in 1989 - over 36 years ago. 

This is a stunning piece of history featuring 34 pages of full colour and black and white  photos and bios. The program has scuffing on the front cover but other then that it is in great condition.

THE FESTIVAL

The 1989 Reading Festival in England, marked a significant shift in the event's musical direction. This change was met with mixed reactions, with some longtime fans expressing discontent, but it ultimately led to a sold-out event with doubled attendance compared to the previous year.

The festival's lineup featured a diverse array of artists across multiple genres. Notable performances included:

New Order: Headlined the first day, delivering a set that included hits like "Bizarre Love Triangle" and "Blue Monday" .

The Pogues: Brought their unique blend of punk and Irish folk music to the stage.

The Mission: Headlined the final day, performing tracks such as "Shelter From the Storm" and "Rain" .

Butthole Surfers: Known for their chaotic and energetic performances, they played songs like "Concubine" and "Sweat Loaf."

Jesus Jones: Delivered a set that included "Info Freako" and "Real, Real, Real."

Loop: Played a set featuring "Vapour," "Breathe Into Me," and "Fever Knife" .

In addition to these acts, the festival also showcased a variety of other performers, including The Sugarcubes, My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3, Les Négresses Vertes, and Pop Will Eat Itself, among many others . This eclectic mix highlighted the festival's new direction and its appeal to a broader audience.
