This 1991 Impulse! reissue (GRD-105) captures Coltrane’s explosive “One Down One Up” and his soprano showcase “My Favorite Things,” alongside Shepp’s intense set featuring “Gingerbread, Gingerbread Boy,” “Call Me By My Rightful Name,” “Scag,” “Rufus (Swung His Face At Last To The Wind, Then His Neck Snapped)” and “Le Matin Des Noire.”
