DESCRIPTION
Glenn Miller & His Orchestra by George T. Simon, with an introduction by Bing Crosby, is an in-depth account of Glenn Miller's life, career and enormously successful orchestra. Simon was closely connected to Miller, having helped organise his first band and later documenting the rise of one of the most distinctive sounds of the Swing Era.

The book follows Miller from his early work with orchestras led by the Dorsey brothers, Ray Noble, Ben Pollack and others through the formation of his own band, its extraordinary popularity between 1938 and 1942, his Army Air Force orchestra and his disappearance during World War II. It also examines the musicians, arrangements and recordings that helped create the classic Glenn Miller sound.
