Ian Moss first made his name as the fiery lead guitarist of Cold Chisel, the Australian pub‑rock titans whose thunderous riffs and soul‑stirring ballads defined a generation. After the band’s initial split in 1983, Moss struck out on his own, showcasing a more introspective side with his debut solo album Matchbook (1989), which spawned the classic “Tucker’s Daughter.” Over the decades he’s proved equally at home delivering blues‑tinged guitar solos, tender acoustic numbers and rootsy grooves, earning a reputation as one of this country’s most versatile and passionate musicians.

Rivers Run Dry, released 21 July 2023, finds Moss back in the studio for a lean, punchy set of eleven tracks recorded over ten days at Rancom St Studios in Sydney (with additional sessions at Oceanic and Point Blank). Co‑produced by Moss and Brent Clark, the album blends straight‑ahead rock pulses with Latin flourishes, country‑tinged storytelling and bluesy slide work, all anchored by Moss’s unmistakable vocals. Special guests — including bassist Zoe Hauptmann, keyboardist Clayton Doley and drummer Kerry Jacobson, plus a soulful duet with Kasey Chambers on “Bury Me” — give the record both depth and warmth.
