Town Hall Concert 1964 Vol. 1 captures an important live performance from legendary jazz composer and bassist Charles Mingus. Recorded at Town Hall in New York City on April 4, 1964, the concert featured an ambitious ensemble assembled by Mingus to perform new compositions and expanded arrangements. Although the original concert was famously under-rehearsed, the recording has since become an important historical document of Mingus’ creative vision during one of the most adventurous periods of his career. Released for Record Store Day 2026, this edition presents the performance on clear coloured vinyl for collectors and jazz enthusiasts.
