DESCRIPTION
Live At The Bohemian Caverns is a 2007 European CD release on Stax Records, featuring a previously unreleased live performance by legendary American soul singer Carla Thomas, recorded at Washington D.C.'s Bohemian Caverns jazz club in May 1967. Showcasing the Queen of Memphis Soul in an intimate setting, the album blends classic Stax soul, jazz standards and rhythm and blues, including performances of "Gee Whiz (Look At His Eyes)," "B-A-B-Y," "Mas Que Nada" and "You're Gonna Hear From Me." The recording also features a guest set by her father, soul and R&B pioneer Rufus Thomas, performing "Fine And Mellow," "Did You Ever Love A Woman" and "The Dog." A fascinating archival concert recording capturing two influential Stax artists in a lively and intimate performance.
