Lil Peep, born Gustav Elijah Åhr on November 1, 1996, was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Known for blending elements of hip-hop, emo, punk, and rock, he became a pioneer of the "emo rap" genre. His music resonated deeply with young audiences due to his raw and vulnerable lyrics, which often touched on themes like depression, substance abuse, and heartbreak. Peep grew up in Long Island, New York, and began making music in his teenage years, using SoundCloud as a platform to release his work. His breakout came with tracks like Beamer Boy and Star Shopping, which showcased his unique mix of emotional vulnerability and trap beats.
