THE TOUR
In 1985, Echo & The Bunnymen, a British post-punk and alternative rock band, embarked on a concert tour in the United Kingdom to promote their fifth studio album, "Songs to Learn and Sing."Â
During the 1985 tour, the band's lineup consisted of Ian McCulloch (vocals), Will Sergeant (guitar), Les Pattinson (bass guitar), and Pete de Freitas (drums). This lineup was central to the band's success during this era.
The tour was primarily aimed at promoting their "Songs to Learn and Sing" compilation album, which included some of their most well-known tracks up to that point, such as "The Killing Moon," "The Cutter," "A Promise," and "Silver." This album was a way for new fans to discover their earlier material.
Echo & The Bunnymen were known for their post-punk and new wave sound, characterized by Ian McCulloch's distinctive baritone vocals, Will Sergeant's atmospheric guitar work, and their melancholic yet melodic compositions. Their live performances were known for their energy and the band's dynamic stage presence.
The 1985 tour contributed to Echo & The Bunnymen's status as one of the prominent bands of the alternative music scene in the 1980s. The compilation album "Songs to Learn and Sing" served as an introduction to their music for many new listeners and helped solidify their reputation.
