DESCRIPTION
Eazy-E, born Eric Lynn Wright on September 7, 1964, was a prominent figure in the American hip hop scene, particularly known for his pioneering influence in gangsta rap. He was a co-founder of the influential group N.W.A., which gained fame for their explicit lyrics and portrayal of life in the inner city, addressing issues like police brutality, gang life, and poverty.
Eazy-E's debut album, "Eazy-Duz-It," was released in 1988 and was a significant success, contributing to the popularization of West Coast G-Funk style rap. His unique voice and delivery, often characterized by its high pitch and street vernacular, made him a standout figure in the hip hop community.
His involvement with N.W.A. and their album "Straight Outta Compton" brought both acclaim and controversy, as their music touched on societal and racial tensions in the United States. The group's blunt and unapologetic approach to storytelling in their lyrics was groundbreaking, albeit divisive.
Eazy-E's career was also marked by his role as a record producer and the CEO of Ruthless Records, which played a critical role in launching the careers of other hip hop and rap artists.
Sadly, Eazy-E's life was cut short due to complications from AIDS. He passed away on March 26, 1995. His death brought more attention to the AIDS epidemic and its impact beyond the traditionally recognized risk groups of that time.
