THE TOUR
The "Street Legal" tour followed the release of Bob Dylan's 18th studio album, "Street-Legal," which came out in 1978. The album marked a departure from his previous work, featuring a more polished and R&B-influenced sound.

The tour took place in early 1978 and included several dates in Australia. Dylan was backed by a talented group of musicians during this tour. The lineup featured some notable musicians, including keyboardist and bandleader Billy Cross, bassist Jerry Scheff, drummer Ian Wallace, and saxophonist Steve Douglas, among others.

The setlist for the "Street Legal" tour in Australia included a mix of songs from the "Street-Legal" album and older classics from Dylan's extensive catalog. Some of the songs performed during this tour included "Changing of the Guards," "Senor (Tales of Yankee Power)," "Tangled Up in Blue," and "Like a Rolling Stone."

Some audience members and music critics appreciated Dylan's willingness to experiment with new musical styles on the "Street Legal" tour, including the incorporation of elements of R&B and gospel into his performances. They found it refreshing to see Dylan evolving as an artist and pushing the boundaries of his music.

However, there were also criticisms, particularly regarding Dylan's vocal performance during that period. Some fans and critics noted that his singing had become more raspy and unpredictable compared to his earlier years, and this occasionally led to mixed or challenging live performances. This change in Dylan's vocal style was not universally embraced, and some long-time fans missed his more familiar folk and rock sound.

It's important to remember that Bob Dylan has always been a polarizing figure in music, and his willingness to evolve and experiment with his music has sometimes divided his fanbase. The reception of his concerts during the "Street Legal" tour reflected this division of opinion. Nevertheless, the tour remains an important part of Dylan's musical journey and contributed to his status as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
