UB40 - Labour of Love II MCMXC Original Concert Tour Program

DESCRIPTION
Vintage original official concert merchandise from the actual gig in 1990 - over 33 years ago. 

This is a stunning piece of history featuring superb photos and rice pipe inserts. It is packed with a history of the band, discography and tour credits. The program is in excellent condition with minor scuffing of the front cover and an old partly-removed price sticker.

THE TOUR
UB40 is a British reggae and pop band formed in Birmingham, England, in 1978. The band's name, UB40, is derived from the name of the UK government's unemployment benefit form, which many of the band members had to sign while they were struggling to establish themselves as musicians.

UB40 was formed by a group of friends, many of whom came from diverse cultural backgrounds, including English, Scottish, and Jamaican heritage. The founding members included Ali Campbell, Robin Campbell, Earl Falconer, Brian Travers, Jimmy Brown, Norman Hassan, and Mickey Virtue.

UB40's "Labour of Love MCMXC Tour" in 1990 was a tour to promote their album "Labour of Love II," which was released in 1989. The album "Labour of Love II" was the sequel to their highly successful 1983 album "Labour of Love," which featured the band covering classic reggae songs.

The "Labour of Love II" album included covers of reggae hits such as "Homely Girl," "Kingston Town," and "Johnny Too Bad." The album was well-received and helped to further establish UB40 as a prominent reggae band in the 1980s.

The tour was a way for UB40 to perform songs from the "Labour of Love II" album and other hits in front of their fans. UB40 is known for their reggae and pop-influenced sound, and their live performances were energetic and well-received by audiences.
