'Red' is Taylor Swift's fourth studio album. It was released on October 22, 2012, by Big Machine Records, as the follow-up to her third studio album, 'Speak Now.'

After writing her last album entirely by herself, Swift collaborated with several artists, producers, and songwriters that she had always wanted to work with.

The album title was inspired by the "semi-toxic relationships" that Swift experienced during the process of conceiving this album.

"For the last two years, I've been working on an album called 'Red,'" Taylor says. "I called it 'Red' because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that's fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions.in retrospect, it all looks red."

'Red' was well received by critics and earned Swift Grammy Award nominations for Best Country Album and Album of the Year. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, giving Swift her third consecutive chart topper in the US. Its first week sales of 1.21 million was the third biggest debut in history for a female artist and became the fastest-selling album in over a decade.
