Genesis - Six of The Best 1982 England Original Concert Tour Program

Vintage original official concert merchandise from the actual gig in 1982 - over 41 years ago. Printed for the one-off reunion show at the Milton Keynes Concert Bowl, Saturday 2nd October 1982.

This is a great piece of history featuring full colour photos and is in very good condition.

THE TOUR
The "Six of the Best" charity concert was held on October 2, 1982, at the Milton Keynes Bowl in Buckinghamshire, England. This event featured the reunion of the original members of the British rock band Genesis, including Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Steve Hackett, and Mike Rutherford. The concert was organized to raise funds for the World Of Music And Dance (WOMAD), a global music festival co-founded by Peter Gabriel.

The "Six of the Best" concert was significant because it marked the first time in several years that the original members of Genesis had performed together on stage. The event had a unique format, with each member performing a short set with their own solo bands before coming together for a few Genesis songs at the end of the show.

Steve Hackett appeared on stage during the encores after arriving late from South American. Mike Rutherford celebrated his 32nd birthday on the day of the concert and the crowd sang 'Happy Birthday' to him during the show.

The reunion was not without its challenges. Peter Gabriel had left Genesis in 1975, and Steve Hackett had departed in 1977, leaving Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford to continue as a trio. Gabriel's departure had marked a shift in the band's musical direction, with Collins taking over lead vocals. The "Six of the Best" concert allowed fans to see both lineups perform, celebrating the different eras of the band.

The setlist for the Genesis portion of the concert included classic tracks like "Watcher of the Skies," "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)," "The Knife," and "Supper's Ready." Peter Gabriel, in his theatrical style, wore various costumes and masks during his performance, adding to the visual spectacle.

It's worth noting that this reunion was a one-off event, and the original lineup of Genesis did not continue as a cohesive band afterward. The members pursued their respective solo careers, with Phil Collins eventually becoming the primary lead vocalist for Genesis until the band's retirement from touring in the early 2000s.

The support bands for this one-off reunion concert were John Martyn, The Blues Band and Talk Talk.
