THE TOUR
Elton John's "Rock of the Westies" tour in 1975 was in support of his album of the same name, released in October 1975. The album, "Rock of the Westies," debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart, marking the first time that had occurred. The "Rock of the Westies" tour primarily focused on North America, with the majority of the concerts taking place in the United States. The tour itself was notable for several reasons:
-
Setlist and Musical Style: The "Rock of the Westies" album marked a departure from Elton John's earlier, more piano-driven pop style to a harder, rock-oriented sound. This shift was reflected in the tour's setlist, which included many of the album's tracks such as "Island Girl" and "Grow Some Funk of Your Own."
-
Band Line-up Changes: This tour featured significant changes in Elton John's backing band. Notably, he had a new rhythm section, with drummer Roger Pope and bassist Kenny Passarelli joining the band. This change contributed to the different sound and energy of the live performances.
-
Stage Presence and Performance: Elton John was known for his flamboyant stage presence, and the "Rock of the Westies" tour continued this trend. His performances were often characterized by extravagant costumes and energetic showmanship.
COLLECTABILITY
Tour programs are unique pieces of rock history and can also be simply a piece of nostalgia of your days of concert going. Great for any collector/investor. Fantastic early concert shots of band.
Programs can also be framed together with other items we have on our website such as vinyl records, official stage guitar picks, autographs, backstage passes, concert tickets, drumsticks and photos and you can create a truly one-of-a-kind unique piece of memorabilia.
